First Cyber Security Challenge Canada in Toronto a great success
The first Cyber Security Challenge Canada - Toronto was hosted at York University on Friday, April 27, 2018. The hosts Lassonde School of Engineering provided an amazing venue and the participants, sponsors and observers from a variety of organizations were impressed by the quality of the experience.
It was a full house as mentors from the interviewing companies provided guidance, which allowed them to get to know the students as they progressed past problems.
Undergraduate university and senior college students from York University, Georgian College, Seneca College, Sheridan College and University of Toronto, Mississauga campus competed for the opportunity to be interviewed for paid internship positions with companies that included Bell, Security Compass, EY, CIBC and SECURESENSE. Prize sponsor SecTor provided one full admission to the upcoming SecTor conference October 2 and 3, 2018 which was awarded to participant Kyle Burns from Seneca College.
Congratulations to the winners of the Challenge:
1st Place – Uof T Bytes, University of Toronto, Mississauga Campus
2nd Place – Signal 11, Sheridan College
3rd Place – GC-RED, Georgian College
In addition to the opportunity to interview for paid internship positions, the members of the 1st and 2nd place teams also received complimentary access to 1 year of on-line cyber security training courses courtesy of Security Compass.
The challenge will be returning to Ottawa and Montreal in November 2018.
